Day 12 Thursday July 5

It's difficult to get motivated when you are in a good place! Woke up surrounded by mountains and the first order of the day was to build a fire. It was 40 degrees and a bit chilly so in front of the fire was the place to be. And there I stayed for most of the morning.

We finally got it together to go for a ride. While we were shopping for our picnic supplies, we ran into Bob, our new friend from the day before. He told us about a ride he thought we might enjoy. So we followed his advice and took the Yaak River Road!

We veered from Route 2 and began our adventure, following the river. At times we were high above it, looking down into a lush valley. Other times we were running right beside it, racing with the flow of the flood stage water. We ate lunch near rapids whose power could have swept away anything in their path. Then came the falls, the climax to this beautiful river run.

We turned South on Pipe Creek Rd and headed toward Libby. A bumpy road that worked out my spine very well! Made it back to Bull Lake in time for another delicious pizza at The Halfway House and some more anecdotes from BJ. For example: He told us he had two wives. Unfortunately, the first died from eating poison mushrooms. (I was so shocked) Then he went on to say that his second wife died, too ..... Of a concussion because she wouldn't eat the poison mushrooms!

The sights you see on the bike are unforgettable, but so are some of the people you meet along the way.
