Day 13 Friday July 6

We pried ourselves out of our mountain home and out of Montana today and it was difficult. In fact it took us until noon to leave that little piece of heaven on earth. But the road was calling!

We headed down route 56, or Bull River Road. It hooked up with Route 200 which took us into Idaho and along Lake Pend Oreille (Pond Orlay). A lake to remember! Snow capped mountains hover over 65 miles of pristine water. We stopped at the Trestle Creek Picnic ground and had lunch with the lake. It was great company. From there, we followed the Pend Oreille River. A beautiful woodland road that matched the turns of the river. Suddenly, a moose! It may not seem like much to some, but we have been looking for moose our whole lives and actually started to believe they were a myth. But there it was with long spindly legs and the moosey face we have been seeking. So cool.

What could top that? The Crystal Falls right down the road! We ended the day in Colville, WA, once again spending the night surrounded by mountains.

The persona of each state we visit is varied. Montana was a wild child, Idaho was the middle kid and Washington is a very good girl! All are amazing in their own way.
